Illinois · remote and on-site delivery

AI consulting for Chicago businesses

Illinois has the strictest biometric privacy law in the country and, since January 2026, a civil-rights rule on AI in employment. For manufacturers, distributors, insurers and staffing firms in Chicagoland, that means some popular AI features (voiceprints, face matching, video interview scoring) need a closer look before they are switched on.

We serve the Chicago area remotely and travel in for workshops and launches. Most of our work here is operations: orders, freight, claims and back-office paperwork.

Rules that apply in Illinois

What we check during discovery for Chicago clients, and how it changes the design.

Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA)
Requires written notice and consent before collecting biometric identifiers such as voiceprints or face geometry, and carries a private right of action. Voice agents that identify callers by voice, or tools that analyse faces, need BIPA consent flows.
Illinois Human Rights Act amendment (HB 3773)
In effect since January 1, 2026: employers may not use AI in a way that discriminates in hiring, promotion or discipline, may not use ZIP codes as a proxy, and must notify employees when AI is used. The Department of Human Rights withdrew its draft rules in June 2026, so the statute is the guide for now.
Artificial Intelligence Video Interview Act
Employers that use AI to analyse recorded video interviews must notify applicants, explain how it works, obtain consent and limit sharing of the videos.

General information, checked October 2026. Not legal advice; laws and dates change, so confirm with your own counsel. See our AI regulatory compliance overview for more.

Time zone and delivery

Central Time (CT)

One hour behind our Eastern-time team, so nearly the whole working day overlaps. On-site visits cover the Loop, the suburbs and northwest Indiana.

We also work with companies in Schaumburg, Oak Brook, Joliet, Milwaukee and northwest Indiana.

Typical Chicago projects

  • Order entry from email and PDF

Purchase orders read from emails and attachments, checked against price lists and entered into the ERP, with anything unusual held for review.

  • BIPA-safe voice agents

Phone agents that verify callers by account details rather than voiceprints, so no biometric data is collected in the first place.

  • HR automation with notice built in

Scheduling and onboarding automated, AI involvement disclosed to employees as HB 3773 requires, and decisions left with managers.

Questions from Chicago businesses

Do AI phone agents create BIPA risk?
Only if they collect biometric identifiers such as voiceprints. A call transcript is not a voiceprint, and we design agents to authenticate by account details so no biometric data is created.
What does HB 3773 mean for using AI in HR?
Employers must tell employees when AI is used in employment decisions and must not use it in a discriminatory way. We help you document where AI is used and keep final decisions with people.
